And another update, on location: Dubai airport has both a Starbucks (Terminal 3 at least) and free WiFi. The connection could be faster, but it’s much better than nothing!

Edit: Vienna also has a Starbucks & WiFi. Although it seems like they do not support SSL connections, and the Starbucks is playing christmas music… But they ARE serving free trials of gingerbread coffee. Tastes odd.

Both offer nice seating and provide a good place to stay for a while.
