I love design if it combines utility and aesthetics. I enjoy design if it is pleasing to look at - I won’t buy it then, because it’s overpriced and useless… Better Living Through Design reports on a number of items from both categories. For example: the urban cup holder.

What is it? Well, a cup holder that you can attach to a lamp post "to encourage people to reinterpret street settings and claim them as their territory". Like dogs do, I guess, so the fight for street posts is on *g* I don’t really feel like claiming a part of the street as my own (if the street is empty, it’s "mine" anyway - if it’s busy, people would simply bump into my hot coffee by accident). My life is not so hectic, I have enough time to drink my coffee in a cozy, relaxed café.
