Updates from the New World
Just like I thought - it’s rather hard to do blog updates while advancing with your family. So a lot has happened since the last entry. And instead of splitting it up into multiple posts, I’ll try to catch up in one.
First, the family has grown to eight people now. Beside the three main characters (Ariana the fighter, Holli the scout, and Betany the wizard) a number of NPCs have now joined the team.
Second, as the adventures are progressing, experience was gained. Now the level of the major characters is 46, while the rest is around the mid and lower 30s.
Third, I’m a member of a clan (ShadowLords) now *g*

I also witnessed the rising of Dios Lantem - a huge event where the evil cleric threw his hordes against Reboldeux. Very interesting to see, and take part, but I was horribly lagged. Fighting was virtually impossible: whenever I clicked to move closer, my characters walked right into the middle of the mobs. With the expected result. My characters spent a lot of time resurrecting. In the end I arrived before the city gates just in time to see the end boss, a hill giant, fall to the massive onslaught.

One of the more interesting server failures was that for, a few minutes, no monsters were respawning. This led to a deserted world, which was funny. In front of Al Quelt, where usually tons of mobs and players are fighting, nobody was present. Eerie.

Meanwhile the story brought me back to Port Coimbra and, occasionally, the city of Auch. The port city provides access to two dungeons: Tetra Hill (filled with demons and gargoyles) and Porto Bello (sunken ships). I found these two dungeons illustrate - at least for me - quite well how my characters progressed. At first, I barely survived one minute in Tetra Hill. After some levelling, my family ploughs through the monsters and eats Siegmunds for breakfast. Still in Porto Bello I was struggling, again hardly surviving. But it’s getting better. AFK levelling is not advisable for me yet, which is not a problem, since playing is more fun anyway *g*
On a less than happy note: bots are on the rise in SotNW. Some are pretty easy to spot, they look identical, have strange names, and stand often in the same area. Stupid. And annoying. I extended my pose book. My idea is to create a few picture stories. Let’s see if I get around to it…
